The History of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton
In 1931, Mr. George Pearson founded the Pearson Funeral Home in Overton. Joined in the business by his son, Tom Pearson, the Pearson family operated the firm until it was purchased by Gene and Phyllis Cottle in 1983.
The History of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup
Gene and Phyllis Cottle's Cottle Funeral Home is the successor to funeral homes in operation in Troup since the 1930's. In 1977, Gene and Phyllis purchased Forester Funeral Home from Wilbur Forester, who had operated the funeral home in its present location since 1957. Prior to that time, it operated as first Carlyle and Sharp Funeral Home, then Sharp Funeral Home and then Forester and Sharp Funeral Home.
