Alice Louise “Lou” Stevens, 90, passed away on June 28, 2025, in Whitehouse, Texas. She was born on May 27, 1935, in Doyline, Louisiana to the late Delbert Walker Sr. and Ruth Campbell.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church, 202 East Longview St., Arp Texas 75750 at 11 am. Visitation will be held at 10:30 to 11 am prior to the Memorial Service.
Lou was a resident of Arp, Texas, and a member of Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church. She devoted her time on this earth to being a lifelong caretaker of her siblings, family, and many others.
Much of her career was spent at the West Wood nursing home in Troup, Texas, where she filled various roles during her tenure, including nurse’s aide, medication aide, and activity director for the home. She also spent time working at the doctor's office in Troup, checking in patients for Dr. Kerry Rasberry, Dr. Smith, and Dr. Khoren Hekemian.
She also spent many summers babysitting most of the kids of Arp at one time or another. She was just like a mother to them all.
Lou was preceded in death by her father, Delbert Walker Sr., mother Ruth Campbell, husband Darrell Stevens, son Gary Stevens, brothers Avery Cook and Sonny Walker, and sister Lavita Ziegler.
Lou is survived by her children, Darrell Jr., Belinda, Kerry, and wife Freida; sister Marjorie Johnson; and brothers Leslie Cook and Don Cook.
