Berta Faye Smires, 87, of Overton, passed away on February 21,2021, in Overton, Texas. She was born February 5, 1934 in Overton to the late Clyde and Fannie Cook.

Funeral services for Berta Smires will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel, Overton, Texas with Nathan Mazander officiating. Burial will be at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm. Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton.

Berta graduated from Overton High School. She loved to play bingo and loved to go to the casinos.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cecil Smires, 2 sons, Larry Smires and Jerry Smires, son-in-law, Gary Helsel Sr.; 3 brothers and 3 sisters; and granddaughter, Melissa Helsel.

Survivors include her daughter, Vicki Helsel of New London; brother, Danny Cook of New London; 7 grandchildren, Bo Helsel, Wheeter Helsel, Sherry Smires, Brittany Smires, Angela Smires, Ashley Smires and Emily Smires; and 6 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Allen Cook, Audie Murray, Kelly Smith, Frankie Morales, Phoenix Randolph and Cody McCabe.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton.
