Billie Carol Moon, of Overton, Texas, passed away on June 8, 2025, in Overton, Texas. She was born on August 2, 1952, in Burlington, North Carolina, to the late William Carol and Margaret Ruth Robertson Duncan.
Graveside services for Billie Carol Moon will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Overton Cemetery, Overton, Texas.
Billie, a lifelong educator and principal, dedicated her life to nurturing and supporting students, particularly those facing challenges in traditional learning environments. She was deeply committed to helping struggling students find success, often taking a personal interest in those who felt forgotten or had given up on themselves. Billie’s unwavering compassion and dedication made her a transformative figure in education.
Known for her fierce determination, empathy, and belief in the potential of every child, Billie touched countless lives throughout her career. She pursued her passion for education with excellence, earning two Master of Education degrees from The University of Texas at Tyler. She was an inspiration to her colleagues, students, and the community.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond G. "Tuck" Moon; children, Laura Murchinson, Emily Banda, Yanni; grandchildren, Layla Nichole Banda, Landon Jose Banda, and Bryson Scott Murchinson; and siblings, Jimmy Duncan, Priscilla Duncan, Angel Kania, Kim Daughety, Michele Hecomovich, Margaret Garcia, Amy Jeffries, and Lori Muller.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents, William Carol Duncan and Margaret Ruth Duncan, and her sister, Mary Duncan.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton, Texas.
