Carolyn Jeanette Shackelford, 83, of Troup, passed away on January 18, 2024, in Houston, Texas. She was born on June 16, 1940, to the late Julian and Minnie Graham. She married the love of her life, Clyde Thomas Shackelford Jr, on May 22, 1959.They built a beautiful life together.
Visitation for Carolyn Shackelford will be Sunday, January 21, 2024, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Cottle Funeral Home in Troup. The graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 22, 2024, at Mixon Cemetery, Troup, Texas, with Reverend Preston Lindsey officiating.
Carolyn was a resident of the Troup community, and she enjoyed spending time with her family. She worked as a substitute teacher for many years at Whitehouse ISD. She loved to travel with their R.V. Club.
Carolyn is survived by her children: Tom Shackelford and wife Vicki of Richmond, Tx, Tim Shackelford of Mixon, Tx, and Todd Shackelford and wife Paula of Quitman, Tx; siblings; Lisa Blalack of Athens, Tx, and Kenneth Graham and wife Judy of Murchison, Tx; grandchildren; Maegan O’Neal and husband Steven of Waco, Tx; Blaine Shackelford and wife Samantha of Hawkins, Tx; Jessica Garrison and husband Max of Houston, Tx; Kevin Shackelford of Connecticut , Tx; Emily Shackelford of Austin, Tx; and Travis Shackelford of Houston, Tx ; great-grandchildren; Brynlee O’Neal, Kaysen Shackelford, Logyn O’Neal, Kynadi O’Neal, Rilynn O'Neal, Sawyer Shackelford, and June Garrison; best friend Linda Tucker. She will be missed in the days ahead by her family and many friends.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents; Julian and Minnie Graham, and her loving husband; Clyde T. Shackelford Jr.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St.Judes Childrens Hospital.
