Carrie Anne Patterson, 72, of Troup, Texas, passed peacefully in her home on Sunday, October 15, 2023, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She enjoyed her first of many amazing worship services alongside her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday morning. She was born March 17, 1951, in Jacksonville, Texas, to the late Homer Allen and Doris Carrie Dickey.
Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Tuesday October 17, 2023, at Cottle Funeral Home Troup. Services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday October 18, 2023, at First Baptist Church Troup.
Carrie Anne was affectionally known as Ankie or Cappie by family and friends along with the many children she cared for over the years. Cappie’s true passion beyond her immediate family was caring for children. Once those children had kids of their own, she watched some of those too. Cappie operated the daycare in her home along with her husband Steve until her body would no longer allow it.
Carrie Anne had many hobbies, but decorating for holidays and her avid gardening were most impressive. Her green thumb was evident throughout her yard at 503. She took special care to make sure everything was immaculate for her annual Easter egg hunt, which went on to be enjoyed by multiple generations of neighbors and friends.
Carrie Anne had a true heart for people of all ages. She served extensively in her church, school, and city, always looking for a way to show others the love of Christ. She was a founding member of Troup Tiger Moms Club and was constantly hosting meals for the various sports teams.
Carrie Anne is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Steve Patterson, daughter and son-in-law Paige and Jeremy Daniel, grandsons Brody, Barrett, and Brooks; daughter and son-in-law Cortney and Andrew Kerr, grandson Asa and granddaughter Scarlett; and son and daughter-in-law Hagan and Holly Patterson and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
