Charles Allan Godwin, Born January 3, 1936 in DeKalb Texas to Cletus Seldon Godwin

and Mable Onise (Jackson) Godwin. He spent his early youth in DeKalb Tx, with his Grandmother, Mama Susie, and  time with his cousins, he felt we’re sisters, Patsy and Gail May.  He later moved to Highland Park, where he graduated in 1955. After high school he went to Arlington State where he received a mechanical engineering associates degree. He began his career at General Dynamics before going to work at Western Electric in Dallas. He went to many trade schools and continued his education over the years. He left Western in 1973 to be Motorolas 1 st employee in Texas. Charles oversaw the construction, set up and operation of the manufacturing plant in Ft. Worth.

He remained in Facility operations until returning to Western Electric in 1980 until he

retired in 1991. After retirement from his professional career, he began tinkering with old

cars. He then went into the rental property business with his son. Charles was born in

the country and had a longing to return. He purchased a ranch in East Texas. He spent

the remainder of his time there riding his tractor, bulldozer and excavator, raising cattle,

baling hay clearing brush digging a lake and hunting the hogs that destroyed the

property. He was former Heath City Council member in its formative years and past president of Forney Lake Water Supply.

Charles married Zelda Euwana Grounds on February 14, 1958, having just celebrated

68 years of marriage. Charles is survived by his wife Euwana, son Ty and wife Susan

Godwin, grandsons Tyler Godwin and Trent Godwin, daughter Susan Bitros,

granddaughter Tracy Odell, great grandson Charles Odell great granddaughter Laurel

Rae Odell.

Charles was a hard worker, dedicated and loyal to what he believed in. He would go all

day and half the night at whatever project he was involved in. He loved to tell stories

and joke around with everybody. He had a wonderful sense of humor. Charles was an

old hot rodder who spent much of his youth on a race track with the hotrods he built and

left with many 1 st place trophies. During race season he could be found watching nascar

cheering his favorite driver. He played baseball and bowled many years. He loved his

family, cows and farm cats. Old time honesty, hard work and dedication is what he was

about.

Charles was a dedicated family man. He was always there and always wanting to help

with whatever you were doing. What can I do to help? Was a common response when

you told him what you were doing. He was a great Dad who will be missed for the

person he was.
