Charles Joseph “Joe” Musslewhite, 76, of Troup, passed away on July 20, 2024, in his home in Troup, Texas. He was born on January 25, 1948, in Overton, Texas, to the late H.S. Musslewhite, Sr. and Agnes Shuttlesworth Musslewhite.
Funeral service for Joe Musslewhite will be 10:00 am, Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Cottle Funeral Home, Troup, with Reverend Joe Ballard officiating. Burial to follow at Union Grove Cemetery, Troup.
Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Cottle Funeral Home in Troup, Texas.
Joe was a resident of the Troup community, and he enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved reading the Bible, watching westerns, doing church activities, and telling others about Jesus. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Mixon. He retired from Eastman Chemical as an operator in Safety for many years and a member of the American Leagion of Troup. He was a retired veteran of the United States Navy. He will forever be missed by his family and friends.
Joe is survived by his wife of 53 years Peggy Musslewhite of Troup; brother Wilmer Musslewhite of Troup; nieces, Lora Boatwright of San Antonio and Sam Musslewhite of Tyler; nephew Jonathan Woodliff; grandchildren, Alex Boatwright and Aurora Boatwright.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, and siblings.
Pallbearers will be Mike Johnson, Casey Harris, Jason Harris, Jon Setter, Rickey Carter, and L.J. Boatwright.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Don Martin and David Harris.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
