Charlie Jerome Price, eldest son of Delma Price and Andrewrine Prince
was born on Saturday, March 15, 1930, in Winona, Texas. He was a beloved
child of his grandmother “Mama Charley" Prince (spouse Allison Prince),
who was instrumental in his upbringing. Papa Charlie, as he was fondly
called, was the oldest of six children. He was born and raised in East
Texas, received some formal education, and was drafted into the United
States Army in February 1951. After being honorably discharged he moved
to California where he lived for over 40 years.
A solitary and hard-working man, he held a position at Price Pfister and
in the mid-60s he owned and operated his own business; Price Building
Maintenance [PBM]. In the 2000s he returned to reside in East Texas, where
he served as a Deacon at El Bethel Baptist Church #2.
Papa Charlie was a big flirt! He was a long-time farmer, loved tinkering
on cars, going to the gym, and enjoyed his Westerns. It was rare to catch
him without his cowboy hat or boots, his Chevy, or of course his shotgun.
He was a true Texan!
Preceding him in death was his wife of 25+ years, Erlinda, brother Harlan
“Goodie” Price, his sister Joann Roberson, his brother Wilber “Punch”
Ector, and his brother James Ector. He is survived by his loving sister Ann
Luke. His legacy continues with his children; Brenda J. Price, and her five
children; Nyshourn D. Price and her children, Herbert “Herb” [DeAnna];
Brittany, Ja'de [Paul]; His son, Taurus J. Price, and his children, Kylena,
Sabrena, Renee, Glendella, Nygie, Kumani, & Asar; Gisele “Gigi” E. Price and
her children, Gregory & E’yana [Rahsheeta], and lastly a step-daughter
Rowena Maximo. He also leaves great grands; Ja’Kobie & Ja’Kayden; Semaj
“SJ” & Xenobia; Bayyinah & Imani, and a host of relatives and friends.
He was called home Monday, March 27, 2023, in Midland Texas where his
youngest daughter Gigi cared for him since 2017.
