Kay Sampson, 77, of Troup, passed away on May 30, 2023, in Tyler, Texas. She was born on September 10, 1945, in Cushing, Texas, to the late Hollis and Marguerite Johnson Birdwell.
Graveside services for Kay Sampson will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Pinecrest Cemetery, Troup, Texas with Jerry Page officiating.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, prior to the service, at Cottle Funeral Home.
Kay was a former resident of the Troup community and a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. She retired from Walmart as the Jewelry Department Manager. She loved spending time with her family, and she also had a love of collecting ceramic chickens.
Kay is survived by her sons, Scott Sampson and wife Kristi of Tyler, Greg Sampson and wife Stephanie of Overton, and Bradly Sampson of Troup; 6 grandchildren, Michael Sampson and wife Kiya, Alexandra Housley and husband Chris, Danielle Basilone and husband Jonathan, Natalie Sampson, Dillon Sampson and wife Courtney, and Savannah Sampson; 6 great-grandchildren, Lillian, Anthony, Lino, Gage, Camden and Carter.
Kay is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glen Sampson, sisters, Shirley Smelley, and Ruby Mullican and brothers, Freddie Gene Birdwell and Jerry Glen Birdwell.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
