Claude Knox Obituary

Claude Ernest Knox, 69, of Overton, passed away on September 4, 2020, in Overton, Texas. He was born October 18, 1950 in Ft. Worth, Texas to Brother Glenn and Clara Knox.

Funeral services for Claude Knox will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel, Overton, Texas with Reverend Clay Potter, Heath Knox, and Reverend Mike Matlock officiating. Burial will be at the Sweetwater Cemetery in Decatur, Texas at 3:00 pm.

Visitation will be 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton.

Claude was a member of the community for 30 years. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Overton. They moved to Tyler in 1964 where Claude grew up and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1969. 

He worked in offshore drilling in Louisiana in the ‘70’s and for Dresser Atlas Oil in Tyler. While there, they sent him to school in Houston to be a wire line engineer. Later he went into the medical field working for Lincare, then Henderson Care Supply where he retired in 2013. 

Claude had many friends and loved ones and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. His unique personality and love for fun and laughter will never be forgotten. He cherished his mother and his children. Claude lived his life to the fullest and fought a courageous battle with cancer with dignity, honor & faith to be admired by all who knew him. The family Thanks Dr. Lee with Tyler Oncology for providing stellar care during his illness. 

Claude accepted Christ at an early age, sharing his testimony and inspiring many. One of his favorite scriptures was 2 Corinthians 5:7-8 “For we walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and willing to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”

Preceded in death by his father, Reverend Glenn Norris Knox.

He is survived by his mother, Clara Knox of Overton; four children: Heather Knox Davis of Dallas; Heath and Deena Knox of Chapel Hill; Stephen Knox and fiancée Rebecca Sprayberry of Overton; Stuart and Cheryl Knox of Henderson; and 23 grandchildren. Claude lived for his family until he drew his last breath. 

Pallbearers are Lonnie Barnes, David McMichael, David Brown, Lloyd Brewer, Cali Quintero, Pat Coleman, Ricky McPherson and Edward Brown.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton.
