David Michael Shields

David Michael Shields, 84, of Laird Hill, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2024, in Tyler, Texas. He was born on September 27, 1939, in Overton, Texas, to the late Morgan Oliver Shields and Dorothy Newcomb Shields.

Visitation services for David Shields will be from 9:00 to 10:30 A.M on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home in Overton, Texas.

Graveside service to follow at 11:00 A.M on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Overton City Cemetery, Overton, Texas with Rev. Roger Purdy officiating.

David was a retired United States Navy Veteran and worked as a plumber after his retirement. He always enjoyed working with his hands; whether it was fixing things around his house or doing yard work, you would always see him enjoying the outdoors and spending time with his loved ones. He will forever be missed by his family and friends.

David is survived by his wife, Esther Shields; son, David Lynn Shields and Leigh; daughter, Gayle Laroux and Joe, as well as their children; Keaton, Brandon, and Megan; brother, Norman Shields and Betty; 3 Great Grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Morgan and Dorothy Shields; brother, Morgan Richard Shields; sisters; Susan Campbell and Margaret Johnson; as well as his grandparents; James Wilton Shields and Lulu Hieronymus Shields, and Horace Gillis Newcomb and Lulu Ethel Seaman Newcomb.
