Donald "Don" Richard Gray

Donald Richard Gray, loving father, entered into the presence of his heavenly Father on the morning of February 26, 2023.  A service to remember Don’s  life will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, March 4, 2024, at Henry’s Chapel Methodist Church.  Family and friends are invited to visitation from 10:00 am to 10:30 am, prior to the service.

Don was also a devout Christian who came to faith in Christ at an early age.  He was a member of the Henry’s Chapel Church in Troup, where he was the music director for many years.  He also enjoyed serving his community, which was evidenced in his devotion to others.  Don also found great joy in taking care of his beloved wife Shelba.  Don was a longtime music director, member of the Dixie Masonic Lodge #272 in Troup. He truly displayed the heart of Christ in his devotion to others.

Don is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Doug Gray.  He is survived by his precious wife of 60 years, Shelba Gray of Troup; son, Richard Gray and wife Tammy of Tyler; 2 grandchildren, Blake Gray and wife Kristie of Keller, and Brooke Brown and husband Bill of Houston; 2 great-grandchildren, Riley Gray and Savannah Brown; nephew, Joey Gray of Troup; sister-in-law, Janet Gray of Troup; sister-in-law, Donna Pelkey of Sherman; brother-in-law, Joe Taylor and wife Sherry of New Summerfield.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Blake Gray, Bill Brown, Malik “Scooter” Franklin, Jim Taylor, Wesley Taylor, Anthony Hubenak, and Joey Gray.

The family would like to request that memorials, if desired, be sent to the Choice Hospice, 6770 Old Jacksonville Hwy Suite 102, Tyler, TX 75703.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
