Earl “Gene” Mitchell, 87, of Tyler, passed away on May 16, 2024 in Tyler, Texas. He was born on April 6, 1937 in Troup, Texas, to the late Charlie L. and Nannie Langford Mitchell.
Gene was a resident of the Tyler community. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, working on his truck, going to car shows, and listening to old country music on the Grand Ole Opry. He worked in the maintenance department at Tyler Pipe for over 30 years. He was a member of Tyland Baptist Church. He will forever be missed by his family and friends.
Gene is survived by his wife Nelda “Nell” Mitchell of Tyler; son-in-law David Neumeyer of Quitman; grandchildren, Julie Wheeler and husband Bryton of Quitman; Jared Neumeyer and wife Haylei of Quitman; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Lisa Neumeyer, and siblings.
Graveside service for Gene Mitchell will be at 2:00pm, Monday, May 20, 2024, at Mason Cemetery, Arp, Texas with Reverend Jason Sutfin officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Cottle Funeral Home, Troup, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Jared Neumeyer, Bryton Wheeler, Clay Martin, Johnny Johnson, Donald Weeks, and Brad Ledford.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
