Eli Dawson Swinney, a carpenter, was a cherished member of his community and was known for his big heart and willingness to help others. Eli was a young man of few words (with a few exceptions—LOL), but his presence spoke volumes. Even though his life was just beginning and was cut too short, he lived it to the fullest. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with friends and family, and his beloved dog, Boudreaux (“Boo-Dro”). He took great pride in expanding his carpentry skills and looked forward to continuing to grow in his craft. Eli was a true inspiration to everyone who knew him and was greatly loved by all.

Survivors include his parents, Deborah Smith and Gary D. Swinney; his siblings: Tina Parker and husband Tony of Kilgore; Karla Florence and husband Cornelius of Arp; Dustin Ross and wife Angela of Florida; Britney Fletcher of Troup; Lane Smith and wife Carissa of Mineola; Hannah Smith of Troup. He is also survived by his grandparents, Jack and Donna Montgomery of Noonday; his godfather, Clark Smith of Troup; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Proceeded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Lucille Swinney of Swinneytown; and his two sisters, Morgan and Hailey Fletcher.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton, Texas.
