Evelynn Joyce (Nichols) Wilshire

Evelyn Nichols Wilshire was born on August 24, 1926, in Kerrville, Texas. She was the firstborn child of Eula B. Hollomon Nichols and Everett Earl Nichols. She was the first of nine children to be born and raised in Kerrville, Texas. She loved to reminisce about her childhood days there with all her younger siblings and other family members. Her parents were hard working and true believers in the Word of God. Along the way Evelyn met the love of her life, John Wilshire, from Arp, Texas. They married on September 18, 1965, and were very happily married, living in Overton until his death in August of 1992. Evelyn spent much of her time as a faithful member of Arp Assembly of God. As well as being known as an excellent cook, she also loved to crochet and to spend time working in her yard. She was a good friend to many and most of all she was a very special sister and aunt.

Many thanks go to her caregivers for the past several years, the nurses and staff of Petal Hill Nursing Home in Tyler and nieces, Patricia Brewster, and Shirley Montgomery.

Survivors include three sisters, Rebecca Burns of California, Bertha Mae Taylor, and Beverly Flores of Texas, many, many nieces and nephews, two step granddaughters, Patty Lawrence and Brandy Dyer and 3 step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Wilshire, sisters, Viola Jones, Ruth Schaefer, Esther Stokes, Emma Savage, a brother, Everett Nichols, and stepdaughter, Frances Lawrence.

Officiating the service will be Pastor Brian Williams, from Arp Assembly of God church. Pallbearers will be Randall Montgomery, Charlie Brewster, Robert Musslewhite and Matt Brewster.

Services will be on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at Cottle Pearson Funeral Home in Overton, Visitation will be at 10:00 am and funeral at 11:00 am. Interment will be at the Salem Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton.
