Gloria was a devoted mother, homemaker, and a lifelong resident of Arp, Texas. She became a Christian at age 14 and was a faithful member of Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church for 77 years. Gloria married Harold Clements in 1953, and they remained lovingly united until his passing in 1996. Together they raised two children, and after her youngest left home, Gloria began working at Arp Elementary as a Special Education Teacher’s Aide and continued for 10 years.
Gloria was affectionately known as “Ninnie” to her four beloved grandchildren. She lived her life devoted to her husband, children, and grandchildren. She loved her country home and working in her yard and flowerbeds. She found great joy in cooking, especially baking pies, for her family. Gloria also loved caring for all her many pets over the years. Her home was a place of peace, warmth, and love, a true sanctuary for anyone who entered.
She was known for her gentle and sweet spirit and unwavering love, embodying the spirit of 1 Corinthians 13:4-8: “Love is patient, love is kind... It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” Gloria was the very definition of love, and she will be deeply missed.
Gloria is survived by her daughter, Becky Goodwin and husband Bruce; her grandchildren, Lindsey Klinger and husband Jacob, Brittany Thompson and husband Chip, Kimberly Houk and husband Ty, and Scott Goodwin; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Gloria Faye Lyon Clements was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Harold Clements, her son Gary Clements, and five siblings.
We would like to acknowledge the outstanding care and service of the Buckner Assisted Living staff and the Hospice Plus staff. Their compassionate Christ-like care and support made the final chapter of Gloria's journey one filled with peace, comfort, and love.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton, Texas.
