Herbert "Herb" Turner

Herbert Calvin "Herb" Turner, 67, of Troup, Texas went to be with the Lord on November 15, 2022, in Tyler, Texas.

Celebration of Life service will be at Whitehouse First Assembly of God in Whitehouse, Texas, 10:30 am, Saturday, December 3, 2022, with Reverend Michael Fleming officiating.

Herb was born in Big Lake, Texas on March 30, 1955, to Fred Calvin Turner and Ida Mae Beene Turner. Herb graduated from Gladewater High School and then became a meat market manager and specialist for 21 years, eventually opening the meat and seafood department of Fresh. He also spent many years as a car salesman for Peltier in Tyler and McDonald Chevrolet in Troup. In 2002 Herb opened and operated Stump-B-Gone. Herb was known for his care and service and took great pride in his company for his customers. He loved a sense of adventure, had a passion for riding motorcycles across the country, fishing, traveling, and hunting, especially to Colorado where he made numerous trips to hunt mule deer and elk. Herb was a member of Redlawn Hunting Club. Herb truly loved his family, his friendships, and his dachshunds, Grimm, Sadie, and Lucy with all of his heart.

Herb is preceded in death by his parents Fred Calvin Turner and Ida Mae Dickerson, life-long best friends Charlie Langham and John B. McDonald.

Herb is survived by his wife Susan Courville Turner of Troup; two sons, Chris Turner and wife Jenn of Troup, and Clint Turner and wife Amber of Flint; four sisters, Frances Dickerson of Arkansas, Shirley Wishard of Chandler, Janet Schwarz of Rockwall, and Carolyn Burkham of Chandler; 3 grandchildren, Colby Don Turner, Clara Turner, and Livvy Turner.
