James Earl Garcia

James Earl Garcia, 75, of Overton, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025. Born on March 23, 1950, in Kilgore, Texas to Bennett and Opal Garcia. James lived a life marked by hard work, generosity, and a deep love for the outdoors and family.

Funeral Services for James Earl Garcia will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Cottle Pearson Funeral Home, 905 S Commerce St, Overton, Texas. Visitation for family and friends will be held from Noon to 1 pm. prior to the funeral services.

A proud and dedicated truck driver for many years, James was known not only for his strong work ethic but also for his warm heart and helping hands. Whether it was fixing a neighbor’s broken mower or lending support to a friend in need, James was always the first to show up—and the last to leave—when someone needed him. If it was broken, he could fix it, and if it couldn’t be fixed, he’d find a way.

James had a lifelong passion for hunting and fishing. He found peace and joy in the woods and on the water, often sharing his love of the outdoors with those closest to him. When he wasn’t on the road or outdoors, you could find him in the garage or workshop, tinkering with tools, machinery, or anything that could be taken apart and put back together.

James is survived by his loving wife, Linda Garcia; daughter, Chrissy Garcia; and three beloved grandchildren: MaKayla, Koda, and Clover. He also leaves behind his siblings, Johnny Garcia and Deborah Garcia, as well as close family members Mark Swanson and Matt Swanson.

He was preceded in death by his son, Coda Garcia, and his parents, Bennett and Opal Garcia.

James leaves behind a legacy of kindness, craftsmanship, and unwavering reliability. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
