James Reagan Branham

James Reagan Branham, 81, of Troup, passed away on December 29, 2023, in Tyler, Texas. He was born on November 15, 1942, in Raymondville, Texas, to the late James Miller and Bessie Lou Florence Branham.

Memorial services for James Branham will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at First Methodist Church, Troup, Texas with Reverend Tommy Earl Burton and Reverend Jason Sutfin officiating.

Although James was born and raised in Raymondville, Texas, he was a resident of the Troup community most of his adult life. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a bachelor's degree as well as his Master of Education.

James began teaching in 1966 and was involved in education until his retirement in 1991. He taught government and history at McAllen high school in south Texas. He and Nadine moved to East Texas and settled in Troup in 1976. During his time at Troup ISD, he served as a teacher as well as the principal of both the Elementary and Middle School.

James and his father opened their Vermeer dealership in 1982 and were devoted to serving their customers for almost 30 years. He also raised cattle and custom baled hay for almost 50 years.

James is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nadine Branham of Troup; son, Alan Branham and wife Christy of Longview; daughter, Kimberly Brasher and husband David of Bullard; 4 grandchildren. Reagan Duvak and husband, Cade of Tyler, Olivia Branham of Longview, Rebekah Brasher of Bullard, and Emily Branham of Longview.

James is preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to First Methodist Church, Troup, Texas.
