A lifelong East Texas resident, Janell Henderson Gill went to be with Jesus and so many of her already Heavenly family members on July 2, 2022. Janell was born October 6, 1933, in a homemade log cabin on their farm near Fairfield Texas in Freestone County.
In 1937 along with her mother Grace Viola Henderson and father, Tommy Simeon Henderson, they moved off the farm to New London, Texas so her dad could pursue work during the East Texas Oil Boom.
Janell graduated from New London High School in 1951, married Robert Ernie "Bobby" Gill, and made her home in the Gulf Oil Camp on Motley Hill near Overton.
She raised two children, a daughter Brenda Gill Maclin of Mineola, Texas, and a son, Ernie Lynn Gill of Hideaway Texas.
A stay-at-home mom for most of her life Janell pursued and had a work career assisting Pharmacist C. G. Mata at Hall Barrett drug store in Overton in the mid-1980s. Later she gained employment at Rhos Hallmark card shop and then joined Carl Clowers Expressions Gift and Cards in Kilgore. She so loved meeting the public and helping Carl in his venture.
Janell especially enjoyed her family life with all of her grand and great-grandchildren always visiting.
The 7 Grandchildren include Jennifer Stovall, Rockwall; Julie Quinton, Tyler; Graham Gill, San Antonio; Morgan Gill, San Antonio; Stephen Maclin, San Antonio; Lyndi Carney, Giddings and Morgan Hartsfield, Tyler.
The 7 Great Grandchildren include Wyatt Stovall, Madelyn Stovall, Collin Stovall Thompson, Logan Quinton, Jordan Murphy, Cuyler Carney, and Cullen Carney. Plus, Janell had many nieces and nephews she loved to see.
She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Molene Henderson Lee and Leslie Warren Henderson.
Janell is survived by one sibling, Malcolm L. Henderson of Frisco, Tx. The First Baptist Church in Overton was her longtime church home.
Memorial and Celebration of Life Services to be held at Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home in Overton at 10 am for visitation with Celebration of Life to follow Saturday, July 9. The family asks those attending, if possible, to wear something "Red", Janell's favorite color.
