Jim R. Whitt, 91, of Troup, Texas, went to be with the Lord on November 4, 2021, in Tyler, Texas. He was born February 7, 1930, in Purdy, Oklahoma, to the late Lee and Mazie Denson Whitt.
Funeral services for Jim Whitt will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 8, 2021, at Cottle Funeral Home, Troup with Pastor Brian Whitt officiating. Burial will follow at Bradford Cemetery, Troup.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, November 7, 2021, at Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
Jim was retired from Oil and Gas Industry as the Petroleum Land manager. He enjoyed farming and he loved his family with all of his heart. He was a member of Whitehouse Church of Christ. Jim dedicated many years to delivering Meals On Wheels.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Pat Whitt, son, Jim Whitt, Jr., and stepson, Kelly Welch.
He is survived by his daughter Beth Anderson and husband Park of Lindsay, Ok, Jana Whitt of Lindsay, Ok; son, Joe Whitt and wife April of Shawnee, Ok; stepdaughter, Debra Welch of Troup; step daughter-in-law, Debbie Welch of Aransas Pass; brother, Bill Whitt of Lindsay, Ok; Brothers-in-law and wife, Leon and Pat Smith of Troup, and Jim Bob Smith of Houston;13 grandchildren, Kyle Whitt, Brian Whitt, Nicole Bauman, Eric Whitt, Courtney Green, Jonathan Whitt, Hailey Dunn, Casey Whitt, Lauryn Whitt, Isabelle Whitt, Shane McCown, JR Dowdy, and Lillian Shugart;; 17 great-grandchildren; nieces, Cindy Shoemaker, Lana; nephew, Randy Stone; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Shane McCown, Eric Whitt, JR Dowdy, Kyle Whitt, Jonathan Whitt, Justin Shugart, Jamison Whitt, and Patrick Whitt.
The family truly acknowledges and really appreciates his dedicated caretakers, Sandy Durham, Debie Alonzo, Joyce Durham, Lupe Olivera, and Pattie Cooper.
