John Frank Lanham, 90, of Arp, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 06, 2023. He was born in the Arp community on February 20, 1933, to the late Thurman and Twillie Lanham. He graduated from Arp High School in 1951. John served in the Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany from 1953 to 1955. After marrying the love of his life on May 20, 1955, he and his wife Marie moved to Tyler where they lived for 25 years and raised their family. They returned to Arp and have resided there since 1985. John was a member of Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for forty years. He deeply loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his family, traveling, fishing, and gardening.
John graduated from the Federal Institute of Tyler after graduating from high school and went on to earn an Associate degree from Tyler Junior College and a Bachelor's degree in Business from East Texas State College, Commerce, TX.
Visitation for John Lanham will be from 10:00 am-11:00 am, and Service to follow at 11:00 am on Monday, April 10, 2023, at Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church, Arp, Texas with Reverend Ron Klingsick officiating.
John started his employment career as a purchasing agent at Baker Tank Company, Arp, TX; then Cotton Belt Railroad; Howe-Baker Engineers; The City of Tyler, Tyler, TX; and ended with serving as a courier at American State Bank, Arp, TX; serving the community until age 85. He was also a member of the 100-gallon blood donor club at the Steward Blood Center, Tyler.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years Marie “Dink” Lanham; Brother; James Lanham of Arp, Tx. children; son, Sterling Lanham and wife Penny of Azle, Tx; Daughter, Elaine Florey and husband Scott of Flint, Tx;
Grandchildren; Matthew Lanham and wife Katlynn of Angleton, Tx;
Ashley Sloan and husband Brandon of Ft. Worth, Tx; Katie Mayo and husband Brian of Gainesville, Tx; Leighann Issa and husband Patrick of Arlington, Virginia; and Micah Florey and wife Callie of Ft. Worth, Tx; Great-Grandchildren; Taylor, Collin, Colbie, Luke, Nora, Dawes Roy, Grace, Jacob, and Ella.
Funeral services are under the direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton, Texas. Interment will be at Mason Cemetary, Arp, TX.
