His presence, laughter, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Scott was born on September 21, 1960, to Homer and Jean Florey in Kingsville, Texas.

He graduated from Overton High School in 1979, where he was actively involved throughout his years as a student. He played golf and basketball all four years and joined the football team his senior year. He also participated in One Act Play as a freshman and served in various leadership roles, including class officer his freshman and senior years and Spanish Class Officer his senior year. His peers recognized his character and spirit, naming him both Class Favorite and School Favorite his senior year.

He married the love of his life, Tina Hankins, on February 24, 1989. They shared 37 wonderful years together filled with love, laughter, and devotion.

Scott had a passion for life that was evident in all he did. He loved playing golf and fishing, two pastimes he not only enjoyed but excelled at and he especially cherished sharing those moments with family and friends. Whether on the golf course or out on the water, Scott created memories that will be treasured forever.

He was known for his kind heart and joyful spirit. Scott had a gift for making others feel loved and for bringing laughter into every room he entered. His warmth and sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

One of Scott’s greatest joys and proudest accomplishments was being “Papaw” to his four grandchildren. He loved them deeply and took every opportunity to pour into their lives, creating special bonds and lasting memories.

Scott dedicated 30 years of service to East Texas Alarm before retiring in 2021. He truly loved his work and the people he worked alongside, many of whom became like family. In his later years, he found great enjoyment working at the Overton Golf Course, combining his love for the game with his desire to stay connected with the community.

Scott is preceded in death by his father, Homer Florey. He is survived by his loving wife, Tina Florey; his son, John Michael Lee Florey and wife, Amber; his four cherished grandchildren, Piper, Parker, Phoenix, and Polly Florey; his mother, Jean Florey; his brothers, Mike Florey and wife, Barbara, and Shannon Florey and partner, Penny Huey; along with many brothers- and sisters-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Rejoicing in the promise of eternal life, we find comfort in knowing Scott is at home with the Lord.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to The Hospice of East Texas for the compassionate care shown during this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his honor.
