Joseph E. “J.E.” Melancon, Jr., 87, of Troup, passed away on October 12, 2023, in Whitehouse, Texas. He was born on January 22, 1936, in Orange, Texas, to the late Joseph E. Melancon, Sr. and Roberta E. Keigley Melancon.
Funeral services for Joseph Melancon will be 2:00 pm, Monday, October 16, 2023, at Cottle Funeral Home, Troup, Texas with Chaplain Chase Smith officiating, with burial following at Mason Cemetery, Arp.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, Monday, October 16, 2023, at Cottle Funeral Home, Troup, prior to the service.
J.E. was a resident of the Troup community and a member of the Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church. He worked in yard maintenance for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and he loved the Lord with all of his heart.
J.E.is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judy Melancon of Troup, Tx; children, Carin Simmons-Adam and husband Doyle of Brenham, Tx, Denise Fregia of Harden, Tx, Paul Melancon of Tyler, Tx, and Amy D. Lewis and husband Adron of Mansfield, Tx, Dawn Coffey and husband Joe Williamson of Troup, Tx, Hope LaFour of Batson, Tx, Rory LeBlanc and wife Janie of Dayton, Tx, Sherri LeBlanc of Hamilton, Tx; brother, Gordon Melancon of Hull, Tx, sister, Celie Bloomfield and husband Joe of Beaumont, Tx, brother, Mac Melancon of Batson, Tx, sister, Jeanie Gillard and husband Bubba of Liberty, Tx ; and 20 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
J.E. is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Martha Ann Hutchins, grandson, Sorrel Fregia and Craig LaFour, and stepson, Dale LeBlanc.
Pallbearers will be Saul Coffey, Gavin LeBlanc, Seth LeBlanc, Josiah LeBlanc, Daniel Smith, Cameron Simmons, Jacob Lewis, and Justin Simmons.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
