Joy(Joyce) Wallace Beggs went to be with the Lord on January 21, 2024, in Tyler, TX. She was born on May 28, 1937, in Tyler, Texas, to the late Manzy and Margaret Cockrum Wallace.
Joy was a bookkeeper for many years. She was known as the Overton watermelon lady. She enjoyed talking to people, and she never met a stranger. She loved fishing, bird watching, going to the beach, being a Sunday School teacher, teaching the nursing home Bible study, going to Southern Gospel concerts, and playing board games with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth Beggs, son Richard Beggs, sisters, Cathrine and Mary, brothers Roy and John, grandchildren Emily, Steven, Jessie and Jordan, and great granddaughter Phoenix.
She is survived by her children, David Beggs and wife Vickie of Houston; Kay Bolin and husband Rocky of Jacksonville; daughter-in-law, Nora Beggs of Denton; grandchildren, Shane, Jason, Aaron, Amber, Brandy, Heather, Adam, Eric, Daniel, Tonia, Amy, and Susan; and 16 great-grandchildren.
