Juanece Underwood Smith, 91, of Troup, passed away on April 25, 2020, in Troup, Texas. She was born July 26, 1928, in Jacksonville, Texas to the late Henry Grady Underwood and Mary Odell Johnson Underwood.

A viewing will be Wednesday, April 29, 2020, from 9:00, am to 4:00 pm, at Cottle Funeral Home, Social Distancing is requested.

Mrs. Smith thoroughly enjoyed her thirty-five years of teaching and her adopted school children.

Even as a young woman she was a godly woman that aspired to nurture a family and whatever community she served; and certainly, to all that knew her she achieved her aspiration.

She was preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Janine Smith, grandson, William Brandon Smith, sister, Lynette Underwood Wright, and brother, Larry Dean Underwood.

She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Nolan Smith of Troup; son and daughter-in-law, Reginald Smith and Diana Romero of Sutherland Springs; sister-in-law, Jenette Underwood of Jacksonville, brother-in-law, AC Wright of Jacksonville; granddaughter and husband, Cherie and Steve Oliviera; great-grandson, Thomas Wayne Trimble; nephews, nieces and spouses, Byron and Teri Underwood, Mike Phillips, David Wright, PeeWee Wright, Pam Ramsey, Teresa Jonikens, Missy Winezaphel, Sandy Burnett, Debbie Hill, Cindy Hill, Darrell Commander, Linda Deygeter, Gayle Smith Nonekar, Janice Shipp, Fancy Montoya, and Dean Wright .

 Special friends and caregivers, Gail Beck, Becky Dowdy, Patty Cooper, Mikey Moses, Donna Fee, Latresa Lollar.

Very special friends, Sonja Roundtree, Gene and Carol Whitsell, Pebble Davis, and numerous other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church of Troup and Troup Library.
