Katie Mae (Romero) Moore, our beloved Sister, Momma, Granny, GG, and Friend crossed over into Glory Friday evening, October 22, 2021.
Katie was born June 4, 1936, in St. Martinville, Louisiana to Robley and Alzire Henry Romero.
Katie’s had a flair to write a column for the Overton Press, known as Granny’s Attic. She was an expert from the canning of the fruit of her garden, and she gave cases of it away. She cared for people with passionate love: and all the school students called her “Granny”. She collected memorabilia for decades because of her dream for Arp to have a museum for children to learn history and the old folks reminisce, someday.
Family that went before were her brother Bobbie Romero, her parents Robley Romero and Alzire (Henry) Romero, her daughter Jerri Lynn Bitar, her husband, Jerry Moore, sisters, Mary Lane Romero, Mabel Romero, and her grandson John Reuben Jones.
She is survived by four daughters: Theresa (Donnie) Jones, Becky (Allan) Orr, Mary (Clifton) Mire, and Jonnie (Hubert) Buford. Her surviving siblings are Gene (Evelyn) Romero, Donnie Romero, Clyde (Gail) Romero, and Lorraine (Red) Landry.
She is known to ten grandchildren as “Granny”, twenty-two great-grandchildren as “GG”, and Rhett her great- great- grandson.
