Kenneth Lynn Allen of Arp, Texas, now resides in Heaven with his Savior, Jesus Christ. Kenneth died peacefully in his own home on August 25, 2023, with his loyal little dog Wheels beside his chair.
Kenneth was born on February 25, 1956, at Ellington Air Force Base in Houston, Texas, to his mother, Mildred Imogene Taylor Allen, and his father, James Reuben Allen, USAF. Ken grew up in a loving family with his six siblings. He graduated from Arp High School in 1975, studied art at TJC, and worked for years for CB&I Howe-Baker in Tyler, Texas, to support his family.
Ken was a humble man who had extraordinary gifts. His artworks amazed all who were privileged to see them. He was a naturalist with a vast knowledge of East Texas animal and plant life that allowed him to help others as a humane varmint trapper. He knew the birdcalls and could himself whistle beautiful melodies. He loved to camp by rivers and to go fishing, especially with nephews Allen, John, and Eric and with his grandsons, Greggory and Grayson.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and his dearly beloved son, James Rowland Allen. He is survived by his precious daughter, Andrea Elizabeth Allen, his son-in-law Aaron Autrey, and two adored grandsons, Greggory Lynn Autrey and James Grayson Autrey. Other survivors include his siblings, Sarah Ann Allen Hanson, John Michael Allen, James Rickey Allen, Billy Steven Allen, Sandra Jan Allen Pate, and Gregory Keith Allen, as well as many treasured nephews, nieces, cousins, and dear friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023, at Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church, with Reverend Tommy Harden officiating. There will be a Visitation and Art Exhibit at 10:00 a.m. with the Service following at 11:00 a.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton
