Lorene Roberts Obituary

Lorene Morris Roberts, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed
away peacefully from natural causes on Saturday, May 24, 2025, in Sugar Land, Texas, at the age
of 95.

Born and raised in Overton, Texas, Lorene was the daughter of R.E. and Minnie Gertrude
Morris. She graduated from Overton High School in 1948, where she served on the flag corps
and had the lead female role in the senior performance of "The House Nobody Lived In" by
Raymond Dunkey.

On December 27, 1948, she married the love of her life, Joe Frank Roberts, of New London,
Texas. Their marriage of 72 years was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together,
they raised two daughters, Sheri Lynn and Susan Kay, and built a home filled with joy, laughter,
and cherished traditions.

Lorene worked diligently as a secretary for the Overton and Spring school districts,
supporting educators and students with care and dedication. Lorene had the most beautiful
handwriting and was regularly called on to use her skills to prepare important documents for
the students.

She was also an active and faithful member of her church, where she found strength, fellowship,
and purpose. Her commitment to her faith was evident in the way she lived her life – always
with kindness, humility, and a servant’s heart.

She had a gift for bringing people together and found great joy in playing games and spending
time with friends and loved ones. Her greatest delight came from her role as "Grandmother" to
her four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and
happiness.

Lorene is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law law Sheri and Mike Demarest, and Susan and
Robert Thomas; grandchildren Megan Howell and husband Jeron, Lindsey Krauland and
husband Daniel, David Thomas and wife Jessica, Jack Thomas and wife Rachel; great
grandchildren Kensington Howell, Tenley Howell, Madeleine Krauland, Everett Krauland, Cash
Thomas, Brock Thomas, Tommie Thomas, Jacie Thomas, and Joy Thomas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Joe Frank Roberts.

Services will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home in
