Marie Huddle Obituary

March 22, 2023, Marie Ritch Huddle made her flight to Heaven. Although she never wanted to fly, this trip was one she had waited for her whole life. She strived to be reunited with all her loved ones and to sit at the feet of Jesus. Marie was born September 16, 1927, to Wesley Ritch and Edna Harris Ritch in Troup, Texas. She attended Bascom School and graduated salutatorian at Tyler High School and was recipient of the Rotary Award in 1945. On October 5, 1946, she married the love of her life, Herbert Huddle. They were married 52 years and had two children. Marie was a stay at home mom until Herbert retired and began hay bailing. Together they bailed hay for themselves and the public. Marie did the hay raking while Herbert did the bailing. She also loved to quilt. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church for many years where she joined the quilting club. The quilting was hand quilted like the old days which is not often found now. At home she liked to spend time embroidering and baking chocolate pies for family and friends. Marie is a member of Hill Creek Baptist Church, Whitehouse.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert, her mother and father, sisters Eunice Williams and Jane Durrett and brother Jessie (Bub) Ritch.

She is survived by her closest family, daughters, Lynda Conley of Tyler, Katie Jeter of Bascom, son Larry Huddle and wife Shelly of Palestine, granddaughters Candace Herrera and husband Johnnie of White Oak, and Holley Breckel and husband Chris of Chapel Hill. Great granddaughters, Alexis (Herrera) Etheridge and husband Dalton of Princeton, Danica Herrera of White Oak and Conley Breckel of Chapel Hill, niece Pat Ford, nephews Mike Ford and wife Sandra, Tommy Ford and wife Audra all of Chapel Hill.
