Marsha Glee (Johnston) Herrin, of Palestine, Texas, passed away on March 31, 2025, in Austin, Texas. She was born on October 23, 1943, in Tyler, Texas, to the late Ernest and Margie (Martin) Johnston.
Celebration of Life for Marsha Glee Herrin will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton, Texas. Visitation services for family and friends will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, prior to the service. Burial at Concord Cemetery immediately following the service.
Marsha, worked the family grocery business and eventually was the owner-operator of the Cash & Carry convenience store. She later became the Commissary Manager for the State of Texas. She was a cherished member of her church and community. She was known for her musical talent, especially as an organist and pianist, her dedication to youth ministry, and her compassionate spirit. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was known for her kindness, intelligence, and generous heart. Marsha touched the lives of many through her music ministry, especially in her long-standing role as a church organist and accompanist. She led Vacation Bible Schools that brought the community together in faith and celebration. Marsha loved spending time with family, staying current with technology, and cheering on her favorite NFL teams. She was a true inspiration to everyone around her.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Terry Herrin of Austin; two daughters, Teresa Herrin (Amy McIntyre) of Austin, and Toni Herrin of Berkeley, California; three granddaughters, Kathryn Funderburg of Berkeley, California, Sara Funderburg of Denver, Colorado, and Elizabeth Grant of Houston, Texas; her brother and sister-in-law, Joel and Karen Johnston of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; her sister-in-law, Joy Savage of Longview, Texas; her brother-in-law, Jerry Herrin of Spring, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Marsha was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Margie Johnston.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton, Texas.
