Martha Jane Waller Swinney, 97, of Arp, Texas, went to be with the Lord on September 27, 2021, in Tyler, Texas. She was born November 17, 1923, in Henderson, Texas to the late Raymond and Minnie Barton Waller.
Graveside services for Martha Swinney will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Williams Cemetery, New Chapel Hill, Texas.
Martha loved being a good grandmother, sewing, and quilting. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, and being with her siblings. She was a member of Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church and loved her church home. She was a member of the Lydia Sunday School Class. She was retired from Arp ISD as a teacher’s aide for many years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Curtis Swinney, siblings, Opal Jones, Thelma Dee Bristow, Velma Lee Grider, Bernice Suber, Louise Johnson, Reo Waller, and Alpheus Waller.
She is survived by her son, David Swinney and wife Gwenitta of Arp; daughter, Nancy Hillin and husband Robert of Henderson; sister, Ann Waller of Henderson; 4 grandchildren, Stacie Everett and husband Mark, Julie Swinney, Matthew Swinney, and wife Jana, and Dana Gillespie and husband Austin; 6 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton.
