Martin Lane (Marty) Woodruff was born November 25, 1956, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Robert H. and Bessie Woodruff. He finished his earthly journey on February 11, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Waiting to welcome him home were his parents, brother Rex, nephews Daniel Mark Woodruff II and Ty Mabry, sister-in-law Sara Woodruff, and brother-in-law Guy Collins. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 47 years, Piper; four sons, Travis (Tammy) Woodruff of Roanoke, Texas, Ted (Christi) Woodruff of Tyler, Texas, Taylor Woodruff of Midlothian, Texas, and Ty (Amy) Woodruff of Hurst, Texas; two daughters, Tomi Price (Jeff) of Sanger, Texas, and Teri Elliott of Dallas, Texas; 20 grandchildren; three brothers, Wayne (Danita) Woodruff of Shreveport, Louisiana, David Woodruff of Rusk, Texas, and Danny (Weida) Woodruff of Rusk, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Pam Williams and Pat Armstrong, one brother-in-law Greg Collins, and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
He graduated from Rusk High School in 1974 and married Piper Armstrong, his high school sweetheart, in June 1976. He worked at Harry’s Building Material for 5 years. Then in May 1981 he began a 25-year career as a family dairy farmer, which he enjoyed because his whole family worked together. They raised their 6 children working on the farm and learning what it means to lead godly lives. In 2006, they sold the cows, and he and Piper both worked at Motor Trike in Troup until he was diagnosed with cancer, and they retired.
The family began attending First Baptist Church Wright City when they moved to the community in 1988. He taught Sunday school classes for many years, first the teen class and then the adult class, until God called him home.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at First Baptist Church, Wright City. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, prior to the service.
