Mercedes “Mert” Skaggs, 93, of Troup, Texas, went to be with the Lord, on October 30, 2022, in Troup, Texas.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, Jacksonville, with Father Jayaseelan Luca officiating. Burial to follow at Pinecrest Cemetery, Troup.
Visitation and Rosary will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday, November 4, 2022, at Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
Mert was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Dr. Joseph Anton and Rose Pauline Eischeid Rieger on March 23, 1929. She was a homemaker and loved her family with all of her heart. She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Jacksonville.
Mert is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Cecil Skaggs.
Mert is survived by her sons, Kenneth W. Skaggs and wife Kathy of Tarpon Springs, FL, Stephen L. Skaggs and wife Cindy of Granbury, TX, Gary Skaggs of Tyler, TX; sister-in-law, Maureen Rieger of Norman, OK; grandchildren, James Skaggs, Rayni Skaggs, Scout Skaggs, Savannah Skaggs, Ashlynn Skaggs, and Austin Skaggs; great-grandchildren, Teagan, Trace, Jameson and Heidi.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
