Modell Stanton Holman was born March 8, 1926 to Williie Austin and Bennie Stanton. She peacefully went to be with her Lord on June 5, 2025.
Modell grew up on the Stanton family farm in the Union Grove community east of Troup, Texas. She attended school in the community of Prairie Lee.
Modell shared a modest home with her parents and eight siblings. With a family of eleven, life on the farm was congested and always busy. But the home was filled with enough love for everyone. On that farm Modell learned the importance of family and hard work. She dearly loved the vast Stanton family, and later in life became the self-appointed “Matriarch” of the family. She went out of her way to ensure that everyone knew about the comings and goings of the entire clan.
On December 19, 1942, at the age of sixteen, Modell married the love of her life, Raymon Holman. They were blessed with two children, Dorothy and Robert. Raymon and Modell shared life and love for sixty-two years until February 1, 2005 when Raymon went to be with his Lord.
As a young girl Modell made the most important decision of her life when she received Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She and Raymon were faithful followers of Jesus, and deeply committed to their faith family, First Baptist Church of Troup, Texas.
During her lifetime Modell found her greatest joy in being a wife, mother and “Grandma” to three generations of grandkids.
Modell was preceded in death by her husband, Raymon Holman, her parents, Willie and Bennie Stanton, her brothers: Elmer, J T and James Stanton, and her sisters: Sybil Evans, Willie Mae Fitzgerald, Ruby Fitzgerald, Mildred Smith and Betty Martin.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Dorothy Branam and husband Ken, her son Robert Holman and wife Glenda. Grandchildren Jennifer Smith and husband Josh, and Jessica Branam, Cory Holman and wife Devin, and Cody Holman, as well as great grandchildren Hannah, Holden, Emmeline, McKenzie, Madison and Brynnleigh, and great great grandson, Carter, also survive. Modell also leaves behind her brother-in-law, Kenneth Martin and her sisters in law Janet Stanton and Barbara Chandler.
A celebration of life service for Modell will be held at Cottle Funeral Home in Troup, Texas on Monday, June 9 th , 2025 at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that any memorial gifts be made to either Samaritan’s Purse Ministries or First Baptist Church, Troup, Texas.
