Nancy Carol Bateman

Nancy Carol Bateman, 79, of Arp, passed away July 22, 2025 in Tyler, Texas. She was born July 20, 1946, in Jacksonville, Texas to the late Jim and Doris Mitchell.

Nancy spent many fulfilling years as a bookkeeper at Arp ISD, where her dedication and kindness touched many lives. Above all, she found her greatest joy in the company of her beloved family and friends, sharing laughter and love. A devout Christian, Nancy lived her faith daily through acts of kindness and compassion, always caring for others and showing tenderness to all of God’s creatures. She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church Troup, where she fellowshipped with and cherished her church family dearly.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents.

Nancy is survived by her daughters, Suni Whittaker and son-in-law Darrell of Troup, TX and Vonda Bateman of Midlothian, TX; sister, Fran Hamner of Paris, TX; nephews Jeff Hamner and wife DeeAnn of Paris, TX, Steven Hamner and wife Megan of Longview, TX, and Darren Hamner and wife Kyran of Paris, TX; niece Tracey Pritchett and husband Michael of Tyler, TX; great-nieces and great-nephews embraced as if they were her own grandchildren and cousins with shared lifelong friendships.

Memorial services for Nancy Bateman will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, August 1, 2025, at Cottle Funeral Home, Troup. Arrangements are under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
