Oscar M. Burton, 92, of Troup, passed away on November 16, 2023, in
Henderson, Texas. He was born on August 24, 1931, to the late Fulton
and Ethel Burton.
Funeral services for Oscar M. Burton will be 10:00 am, Monday,
November 20, 2023, at Henry’s Chapel, Troup, Texas with Reverend
Nathan Price officiating, with burial following at Henry’s Chapel
Cemetery, Troup.
Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Sunday, November 19,
2023, at Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
Oscar was a resident of the Troup community his entire life and a
lifelong member of Henry’s Chapel Church where he dedicated many
years of service as Sunday School Superintendent, Communion Steward,
Record Keeper and as loving caretaker. He also faithfully served on the
Henry’s Chapel Cemetery Board and was a lifetime loyal supporter of
Knoxville Cemetery. Oscar retired from the United States Postal Service
where he served 30+ years. He enjoyed tending his large vegetable and
flower gardens feeding so many every year, also raising longhorns,
cooking for others, and spending time with his family and his cherished
dog Rusty.
Oscar is survived by his nieces; Marilyn Cleveland and husband Rickey
of Rusk, and Carolyn Harmon and husband Larry of New Summerfield:
3 great-nieces; Jennifer Escojido and husband Joe of Reklaw, Jana
Angelley and Troy Krisher of Mckinney Tx, and Angie Harmon of
Charlotte, NC; Great-Great Nieces and Nephews; Tate Martin, Kelcie
and Travis Walker, Finley Sehorn, Avery Sehorn, Emery Sehorn, Sarah
Angelley, Jacklyn and Chase Ainsworth, Kathryn Krisher, Cobin
Krisher, Brek and Cassidy Escojido, Madelyn Escojido, Great-Great-
Great Niece Kennedy Escojido; Special cousins Kathie, Diana and Kay;
Henry’s Chapel family; Other beloved relatives and friends.
Oscar is preceded in death by his parents; Fulton and Ethel Burton and
sisters; Ruth Burton Greenwood and Jenny Lynn Burton.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Autumn Leaves
nursing staff and Angel Care Hospice and UT Tyler Intensive Care Unit
for their care and compassion.
Also the family sends eternal heartfelt gratitude for a lifetime of love,
friendship and care to Oscar’s family and friends of the Henry’s Chapel
community.
