Obituary

Rev. Dr. J. B. Morris, 87, of Joinerville, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior
on September 16, 2023. He was born in McCook County on January 1, 1936, to
the late David Homer Morris and Mattie Myrtle Welborn Morris. He married his
true love of 63 years, Winnie Scoggins Morris on August 20, 1960. Together they
had three children, one Texas Rose and 2 Wyoming Cowboys.


He was a Member of the United Methodist Church as an Elder and was a pastor,
full-time and part-time at numerous churches in Texas, Colorado, and Wyoming.
He was also a proud member of the Masons and belonged to several branches of
the organization. He had lifelong memberships in several Teacher and School
Administrator Associations.


He made a career in Public School Education and served as a Bus Driver, Janitor,
Teacher, Coach, Principal, Business Official, and Superintendent in the states of
Wyoming, Colorado, and Texas. He retired after 34 years in Education and then
started a second career as a Servant of God. He retired from the ministry and
continued serving part-time until his death.


Visitation for Rev. Dr. J. B. Morris will be from 10:00 am-11:00 am with the Service
to follow at 11:00 am on Friday, September 22, 2023, at Cottle Pearson Funeral
Home, Overton, Texas with Reverend Randall Morris and Reverend Cody Walker
officiating. Special Music by Great-granddaughter Carly Walker.


J. B. is survived by his three children Belinda Walker, Randall Morris, and wife
Selen, and Michael Morris and wife Nely. Grandchildren Laura R. Morris,
Stephanie Morris, Cody Walker and wife Judy, Christopher Morris, Cedric Morris,
Izzabell Morris, Kevin Miller, and Darrian Miller. Great Grandchildren Carly, Jaxson,
Aliera, Luke, Titus Walker; Isabella Pacelli and Christopher Andre Morris. A Host of
close Family and Friends.


He is preceded in Death by his Loving Wife: Winnie Scoggins Morris; Parents:
David Homer Morris and Mattie Myrtle Welborn Morris; Siblings: Raymond
Morris, twins Lonie and Lillie Morris, Twins Cleo Morris Brazwell and Leo Morris,
Edna Marie Morris Smith, Birtie Lee Morris Pace, twins Mary Fay and Martha Ray
Morris; Son-In-Law Roy “Butch” Walker and Granddaughter Sophie Rae Walker.

In lieu of Flowers, you may donate to the Rock Hill Faith Community Church
Building Fund.
