Graveside services will be Thursday, March 17, 2022, at 11 am at Williams Cemetery.
After graduating high school, he joined the Navy and served 4 years on the Midway Aircraft carrier.
He served with the Irving Police Department as an officer and then as a detective.
More interested in being self-employed. Had a janitorial business, owned a Mercury Dealership selling boats and motors, owned 4 different pawnshops, and finally owned an equipment rental company in Sulphur Springs.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Angie Smith of Cumby; sister, Delores Jackson of Norman, OK; brother, Lavon Smith and his wife, Nancy of Redding, CA and many nieces and one nephew.
He is preceded in death by his parents Delmer and Nina Smith of Wynnewood, OK, and a brother, David Leon Smith also of Wynnewood, OK.
RW loved being outdoors, mowing his land, and working in his gardens. He was truly honored to have served his country and was proud to be a veteran and supported many different veterans groups.
