Rosamond (Rosie) Virginia Gill, 84, of Baytown, (formally of Overton), passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 23, 2022, in hospice care after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Monday, June 27, 2022, at Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton, with Reverend officiating. Burial to follow at Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, Monday, June 27, 2022, prior to the service.
Rosamond was born in Minden, Louisiana, to Floyd Merritt and Ruby Merritt on November 19, 1937. After many travels the family settled in Longview where Rosie graduated from Longview High School in 1955. In 1961 she met her best friend, love of her life Eddie Gill. They were married on October 6, 1961. They settled in Longview and during their 35 years of marriage raised two sons. Mrs. Gill was a bookkeeper/office manager for 61 years. During her life she never met a stranger to find out their stories. She cares deeply for her family and for people in general. She had an infectious laugh and loved lots of color. She was a cat lover feeding any feral cat that would stray by the house plus the two she had inside. She loved Galveston, traveling, college football, reading, and documentaries.
Rosie Gill is survived by her children, Barry Gill of Baytown, and Danny Davis of Waskom; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is preceded is death by her parents, her husband Eddie Gill, and sister Patricia Fopay.
The family would like to thank Harbor Hospice House of Houston for the excellent care during her last days.
Rosie’s last request was that everyone wear denim to her service.
