Royal Tom Fields, 98, passed away on August 27, 2025 in Hospice Care Bullard, Texas. He was born October 8, 1926, in Troup, Texas to the late John Tom and Wrennie Mignon Ginn Fields.
Royal was a veteran of the United States Army during World War II. He retired from General dynamics. He was a beloved citizen who would help anyone he could. He loved his country, and could tell you many stories of the military to whoever would listen. He was smart, kind, and definitely one of a kind. He was a great patriot who served his country, kept up with current affairs, and always loved. He loved nature, bird watching, and growing his garden and plants. His life was well lived, contributing to the well being of his family and others.
Royal is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Frances Louise Dark Fields, son, Billy James Fields, son-in-law, Clifford G. Phillips, five brothers, 4 sisters, and special friend Betty Bundy.
Royal is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Kay Phillips of Benbrook, TX; grandchildren, Michelle Phillips and Kevin Phillips; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Rodman and Kimberly Sturt; great-great-grandchild, Rosalynn Sturt;a handful of nieces, nephews and many more loved one.
Funeral services for Royal Fields will be at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Cottle Funeral Home, Troup with Reverend Steven Oakes officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, prior to the service.
