Rudolph Barnett

Rudolph “Rudy” S. Barnett, age 96, of Troup, passed away on August 8, 2023, in Tyler, Texas.  He was born on October 2, 1926, in Leon County Texas, to the late Archie and Reffie Williams Barnett.

Funeral services for Rudolph will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 11, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Troup.  Reverend Preston Lindsey and Lance Howell will officiate with burial following at Pinecrest Cemetery, Troup.

Rudolph graduated from Lone Star School in the Flo community.  He was a United States Navy veteran serving during World War II. 

He attended Rutherford Business College in Dallas and began his career working for the Veterans Administration.  He retired from the IRS as a Revenue Officer.

Rudy was an avid rancher, raising cattle and horses at his Circle “B” Ranch. He participated in the Farm & Ranch Club as well as Southwest Cattle Raisers Association.

He was greatly interested in youth of the community and was an enthusiastic fan of Troup I.S.D. scholastic and athletic programs.  He was host to German and Denmark exchange students while they attended Troup High School.

Rudolph was a member of the First Baptist Church of Troup.  He attended adult Sunday school and was an FBC trustee.

Rudolph is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Pearl Ham Barnett, brothers, Reuben Barnett, Allen Barnett, and sister, Dollie Barnett Chubbuck.

Surviving family include sisters-in-law Kathy Barnett, Vera Barnett, & Shirley Ham, nephews Jeff Barnett, Joey (Lori) Barnett, Don (Jeannie) Vetch, Carl (Pam) Vetch, & Brian (Cristina) Ham, nieces Angie (Brian) White, Carrie (Ken) Abruzzini & Reda (Robbie) Robinson.

Pallbearers include Jeff Barnett, Joey Barnett, Forrest Howell, Jason Howell, Tucker Howell, Robbie Robinson, Darrell Webb, & Brian White.
