Sonja Lynn Stewart-Smith

Sonja Lynn Stewart-Smith was born August 6th, 1957, in Longview, TX to D.L. & Alice Stewart. Sonja passed away on June 10, 2023. Services will be on Monday June 19th at Martin's Chapel Church of The Nazarene. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am to 11am. Funeral will begin at 11am Officiating Pastor David Baker and Pastor Kevin Ray.

Sonja was a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, Sister, and Aunt. She worked for Bealls Department Store, where she made lifelong friends. Then left to become a stay-at-home mother to her two daughters. After her girls started school, she Worked for Kroger in the Deli department. She enjoyed her co-workers and helping customers. Sonja was a member of Martin's Chapel Church of The Nazarene in Troup TX. She loved to help with the Youth at the Church. Sonja truly had a huge giving heart.  Later in life, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Sonja is survived by her mother Alice Stewart. Daughter Rachel James & husband Billy of Mckinney TX. Brother's James Stewart & Wife Glenda of Jacksonville TX. Mark Stewart & wife Teresa of Henderson. Grandchildren Cannon Carlile, Heidi Stewart and Cole James and Special Friend Paul Howerton. Many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Sonja is preceded in death by her father D. L. Stewart, grandmother Helen Kennedy, and daughter Rebekah Howard.

Pallbearers are Colton Stewart, Justin Wimberly, Jeremy Boatwright, Blake McElroy and Billy James.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
