Thelma Thompson Obituary
Graveside services for Thelma Lee Davis Thompson, 85, Arp, will be at 1:00 pm, Thursday, December 28, 2023, in the Overton City Cemetery, Overton,Tx, with Pastor Brian Williams officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton.
Mrs. Thompson joined her husband Don in heaven, on Saturday, December 23, 2023. She passed peacefully in her sleep. She was born January of 1938 in Kountze, Texas to the late Eliza Clarence Davis and William Edgar Davis. She was the first in her family to graduate from high school and earn her diploma. Thelma married Donald Thompson in December of 1957 at the family church in Kountze, Texas, and moved to Arp in 1982 from Baytown. She was the wife to a soldier who served in the US Army in Germany during WWII, a nurse aide at a nursing home, and most importantly, mom, grandma, and memaw to her family. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, and spending time with family.
Besides her husband and parents, Mrs. Thompson was also preceded in death by a son, Stephen Thompson, brothers Jim and Wayne Davis and a sister Lola Alpers.
Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald Wayne and Tina Goings and David Michael Thompson and Julie Burton; Alexander Wayne and Rachel Thompson and John Michael and Jerne Thompson; great-grandchildren, Jacob Wayne Thompson, Cassandra Sue Thompson, Michael Alexander Todd Thompson, Jesse Lee Thompson, Enola Bailee Thompson, and Addie Baker-Thompson; sister, Cathalou Perew, and numerous nieces and nephews.
