Vera Virginia Priest

Vera Virginia (Nelson) Priest – was born in Marthaville, Louisiana on May 19, 1940, peacefully left our world to be with the Lord on April 7, 2025. Vera was a proud member of The Gospel Barn in Troup, enjoyed spending time with her family and spoiling them during the holidays and birthdays. She enjoyed rooting against the Dallas Cowboys and loved cheering for her favorite teams, the Washington Redskins/Commanders and Kansas City Chiefs and her favorite player Patrick Mahomes. Over the years she helped raise her grandchildren and “extended” family members by providing early child care to trusted friends.

Loving wife of 47 of years, to Jessie “JR” Priest of Troup, Texas.

Survived by: Children: Wade (Donna) King, Melissa (Steve) Baker, Eddie (Tricia) Priest, Tandy (Clay) Hite, Siblings: Mable Bachelor, Trudy Nelson, Sandy (Johnny) Ramirez, Dean (Pat) Nelson, Grandchildren: Matthew (Nikki) King, Haylee Priest, Liliana Priest, JEP Priest, Kiri (James) Clomburg, Jonathan (Kaila) Kilpatrick, Jeremy (Ashley) Priest, Timothy (Stephanie) Priest, In-laws: Fran Nelson, Sherri Priest, Cecil Nelson, Lynette Priest. Many nieces and nephews, great grandchildren, and extended family members

Preceded in death by: Siblings: Ronald Nelson, Donald Nelson, Mary Laroux, Syble Gray, Janet Price, Johnnie Johnson, Children: Mike Priest, Gary Priest, In-laws: Ed Bachelor, John Price, Nancy Priest, Al Gray, Dessie and Junior Turner.

Visitation will be held at Cottle Funeral Home, 105 E. Bradford, Troup, Texas 75789, Thursday, April 10, 2025 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 11, 2025 at 10:00 am at The Gospel Barn, 22160 Texas Highway 110, Troup, Texas 75789.
