Virgil Burgins Obituary

Virgil "Dugie" Burgins, a man of unwavering faith, went to be with the Lord on May 21st, 2023.
Surrounded by his loving family, he peacefully passed away in the comfort of his home in Arp, Texas.
Born on January 12, 1932, Dugie was married to his childhood sweetheart, Shirley Burgins, for an
incredible 68 years. Their love and devotion were an inspiration to all who knew them.
A lifelong member of the Church of God, Dugie found solace and strength in his relationship with God.
He followed in his father's footsteps to become a well-known brick mason, leaving behind a lasting
legacy of his craftsmanship throughout the community.
Dugie is survived by his beloved children: Larry and his wife Linda of Arp, Texas; Randy of Arp, Texas;
Pam and her husband Brad of Arp, Texas; and Vicki of San Antonio, Texas. He leaves behind a legacy of
14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Dugie cherished his role as an
uncle to many nieces and nephews and was fondly known as &"PawPaw" to many who crossed his path.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley, who passed away just three weeks earlier. Dugie
was also preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Lurinda, his brothers Roy and Bennie, their wives,
his sisters Loretta and Wilma, their husbands, and his daughter-in-law Penny. He now joins them in
eternal peace.
Dugie was known for his kind-hearted and loving nature. He had a remarkable ability to see the best in
everyone he met and lived his life centered in Christ. Slow to anger and quick to forgive, he touched the
lives of countless individuals with his compassion and empathy.
Dugies departure leaves a void in the lives of many, but we find solace in knowing that he is now
rejoicing with his darling Shirley in the presence of their heavenly Father. As we bid farewell, we take
comfort in the belief that one day we will all be together again.
