Wanda Coleman

On Tuesday, November 10, 2020, Wanda Jean (Duvall) Coleman, a loving mother, passed away at age 80.

Wanda was born on February 17, 1940, in Cherokee County, TX, to Richard Wier and Ola Mae (Hamilton) Duvall. She received her bachelor’s degree from Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma, in 1962 and taught in San Antonio as well as provided early childcare in Wichita Falls and substitute taught in the Jacksonville area for over 31 years.

Wanda had a passion for teaching. She also loved to teach young children and taught in public school, childcare centers, and Sunday school. She was also involved in sponsoring youth groups as well. She loved to create interactive experiences and work with kids to understand both lessons in school as well as the gospel in a church. She was also an avid reader and a movie lover.

Wanda was preceded in death by her father, Richard, mother, Ola Mae, and brothers Wayne and Rodney. She is survived by her son Gregory and grandchildren Penelope and Timothy. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2020, at Concord Cemetery at 2 o’clock p.m.
